Before the mid-term elections, it is essential for the media to discuss/define alternative forms of government; less narcissism would be a good thing. Define social democracies, for example; they are not communist, not socialist, not fascist, etc. The public are not informed about the countries which are leaders in almost all indicators − those social democracies of Finland, Sweden, and Norway. These have high standards of living and poll highest in life satisfaction. Why is that? How is that achieved? Yes, indeed, higher taxes ensure the very best in education, medical care; more equality in access to social services, environmental action, and a general opportunity to commune with nature.

In other words, democracy for/by the whole of society.
