I endorse Matt Pugliese, the Democratic candidate for the seat of state representative, 23rd district (Old Lyme, Lyme, Old Saybrook, and Westbrook).

The issue of unfunded state worker pensions has made the topic of organized labor a divisive issue in our state. Matt is a leader who understands and respects the value, strength, and contribution that the labor movement has made to the American middle class and Connecticut’s economy.

Matt has experience in negotiating contracts and collective bargaining from working with unions (navigating complex issues to reach compromises) in the theatre that he runs. He realizes that problem solving takes communication, compromise, and consensus building.

He has my vote, and I hope to encourage others to vote for Matt in November.
