I believe in voting for the best candidate for office, not their party. So while I’m a Democrat, in the special election to replace Democratic state Rep. Chris Soto I will be supporting the Green Party candidate, Mirna Martinez. 

I taught in the New London school system for 30 years and I’m the city historian. I’m deeply aware of the problems we face. We have a very diverse community and we need someone who understands our challenges. I believe Mirna Martinez is that person.

I have been impressed with her work on the New London school board. She has been very involved and active in our community and she understands our needs. Mirna also understands that these problems aren’t our problems alone. Many communities in our state face the same problems and we need someone to fight for solutions. I’m voting for Mirna Martinez and I hope you will too.
