Big difference between legal, illegal immigration

Finally! Someone has the common sense to say it like it is (Marc A. Thiessen column, July 18, "Democrats say no one is above the law, except illegal immigrants")! During the 4th of July holiday, public service ads were running explaining what type of fireworks were legal and what type of fireworks were illegal in Connecticut.

I wondered how children or even young adults would react to this ad because most — given the media coverage — had to be aware of the Illegal immigration problem. Like fireworks, some immigration is legal and some illegal. But with the attitude of many politicians today, the odds are that confused folks just pull a "Hillary" and say, "What difference does it make?"

It is time to realize the damage politicians elected to represent our state in Washington have done by dragging their feet on immigration reform. Some Connecticut politicians follow the headlines with press conferences to make people think they are working for us. Others waste valuable time taking an annual walk around the state to get the headlines.

They should all get their butts back to Washington and start working on solving this country's mega problems, i.e., immigration, debt, drugs, infrastructure. Or they should get out! And I don't mean the country, I mean out of Congress.

Gone are the days of the statesmen.
