Praise for columnist's digging on Port Authority

Normally when I read the David Collins column in the Day, I shake my head and marvel at how many times he slams the fly with his journalistic sledgehammer. But not this time! His tremendous job of digging into the Connecticut Port Authority quagmire represents journalism at the highest level. He used the Freedom of Information Act, dogged and tenacious interviews and followups to expose an organization that seemed much more intent upon serving themselves than the taxpayers of Connecticut. He stood his ground against implied bribes and threats to his own integrity. He moved the governor off of dead center and was the spark that moved the state to actually investigate the problem. The story is not done yet and the whole truth has not been uncovered but the efforts of Mr. Collins are worthy of a Pulitzer Prize.
