    Why death penalty shouldn't be revived

    Lee Elci's column, “Bleeding hearts care more for killers than victims,” (Sept. 5), omitted several important points about capital punishment. It does not deter criminals. It costs more in court costs and appeals than does life imprisonment. And, it is too final.

    Many people have served years for crimes they did not commit, later proved innocent by DNA testing. I agree with the writer that we don't need luxurious prisons. But we also don't need "Ole Sparky."
