Many reasons Coast Guard museum should be at Fort Trumbull

So, it appears the powers that be are still trying to squeeze the National Coast Guard Museum into what most of us realize is the wrong location for so many reasons. A state grant of $20 million will be used for a necessary pedestrian bridge to what is often times an already near capacity parking structure. Additional funds are also required to mitigate the fact that the location is in a flood plain. A major modification will be needed to berth the Eagle there. These three situations alone would be unnecessary if Fort Trumbull were used.

So far $46 million has been pledged with $26 million of that coming from the state, federal funds and $1 million from Lockheed. So, with $54 million to go to reach the $100 million goal and with only $20 million raised in private donations in over five years, what are the odds of finding another $54 million in the next decade, if at all?

Money wise, 2018 was their best year yet and they brought in only $6.8 million. At this rate it will take another eight years and yet they plan on breaking ground next year? They may not know it, but construction crews won't take post-dated checks.

Put it where it has always belonged, Fort Trumbull.
