Hooray for the voters of East Lyme! This year we have a real race for the office of first selectman, and it’s an exciting one! Board of Finance member and former chair, Camille Alberti, is running against the two-term incumbent, Mark Nickerson. Having worked with Camille for six years on the Board of Finance (I serve as vice-chair), I can tell you firsthand she comes highly qualified for the office. Every BOF meeting that I’ve attended, Camille was well-prepared, particularly during budget season. She does her homework. Her experience as both a management consultant in her own business and finance director for a non-profit position her perfectly to lead our town. And while I think Camille loves East Lyme, too, she is not running a popularity contest. She wants what’s best for this town and isn’t afraid to make tough choices when necessary. She’s intelligent. She’s an independent thinker and a straight shooter. I firmly believe she has what it takes to get the job done. Please join me on Nov. 5 and cast your vote for Camille, our new first selectman.
