Waterford Country School a national model

I commend Lee Howard for his insightful article, “Program makes huge Difference,” (Nov. 4), capturing the way the CARE program has placed Waterford Country School as the model for the treatment of youth and families in crisis.

Children and Residential Experience was developed by Martha Holden, director of the Residential Childcare Project at Cornell University, whose goal is to have this program instituted worldwide. Bill Martin, executive director of WCS, was part of the development of CARE and has spoken at conferences all over the world.

With members of the board, program directors, staff, members of the founding family and supporting donors present, Holden proudly presented Bill Martin with the prestigious plaque designating WCS as the first CARE Academy in the world!

I encourage anyone who is interested in visiting WCS to call the Development Office to schedule a tour.
