Grocery store workers deserve our thanks

The unsung heroes during this difficult, unnatural time include grocery workers.

Every day, hundreds of grocery workers are going in to work, regardless of how dangerous it can be. Because of them, we are all afforded a chance to have a bit of normalcy and are able to buy what we need.

That being said, why was I horrified by the behavior of some customers? At a Groton grocer I observed plenty of people treating the staff with disrespect, and rudeness.

Everyone of those workers are there, doing us a huge service. Yes, some get teeny-tiny extra pay, but certainly not enough to risk their health daily.

So, I ask everyone, when you're shopping please thank these lovely people and be kind to them and one another. We'll get through this, as long as we keep respect and dignity a daily part of our lives.

God Bless and keep you all safe and well.
