Soviet Union style heave-ho of history

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has earned her ticket to the reviewing stand atop Lenin’s Tomb.

On June 18, Speaker Pelosi ordered the removal of the portraits of four former Speakers of the House of Representatives for their treacherous involvement with the Confederacy. It should be noted that all four former Speakers of the House were Democrats and full U.S. citizens at the time of their deaths; but back to Pelosi’s ticket to Lenin’s Tomb. Pelosi’s removal of the portraits is different from the removal of various traitors’ statues from the town green. Pelosi is attempting to erase the political history of the United States, much like Josef Stalin did in the Soviet Union. Under Stalin you could tell who was out of favor because their image would be removed from the picture of the preceding May Day parade reviewing stand atop Lenin’s Tomb. By throwing the portraits down the memory hole, Pelosi is erasing our history and maybe condemning us to repeat it.
