I want to acknowledge Lee Elci's outstanding column, “An Independence Day littered with turmoil,” (July 8). The values my generation learned from the greatest generation have been eroded and devalued over the past 25 years. Our grandkids have been stripped of these values by their teachers and college professors, folks who could not get real jobs because they have no practical skills other than to talk and pound into the minds of their students their leftist and socialist agendas.

Colin Kaepernick says his kneeling is not about our flag or our anthem; then why kneel then? 

So many of my generation had two parents to raise and guide us. They paid their bills by combining two incomes. I learned from the examples my mom and dad demonstrated every day.
