Sarah Moriarty, empathetic choice for probate judge

Forty years ago my father said, “If you register independent, you won’t be able to vote in the primaries, and you might want to do that someday." That day has come. Voting for Sarah Moriarty for the Democratic candidate for probate judge is important enough for me to affiliate with a party. On Aug. 11, I will be voting in the Democratic primary for the candidate for Probate Judge in Groton, Stonington, Ledyard, and North Stonington. I urge everyone to do likewise.

A good probate judge is smart, sensible, compassionate, and a dedicated worker. They oftentimes will be dealing with tricky relationships and emotional family matters. They need to listen and make informed and reasonable decisions in a timely fashion; decisions that have lasting outcomes for those involved.

I know Sarah from standing on the sidelines of children’s sporting events. When I needed help, she reached out to me.

Serving others comes naturally to her. “Sarah wants to personally be involved with your adoption fundraiser”, “Talk with Sarah, she can connect you with the best resources,” are phrases I heard and followed through on; allowing me to realize how empathetic and knowledgeable this lawyer, community member and woman is.
