I would like to see the creation of a National Fire Force as a new branch of our military. It makes more sense than a Space Force. Greater resources and well-trained firefighters could deploy, in force, to major fires like those that plague the western third of our nation each and every year. During the non-fire season, they could better train local fire departments and take preventive measures in expected trouble areas. Better techniques in firefighting could be developed and implemented. We have a national police force, FBI, national military, national medical services, CDC, but except for forest service, nothing dedicated exclusively to fighting fires.
