    Change balance of General Assembly

One-party control of the governorship and legislature has not been good for Connecticut. We have high taxes and a reputation for being business unfriendly. We in southeastern Connecticut feel forgotten because the emphasis in Hartford has been to bail out large cities.

The Democratic majority does not have to be transparent in their dealings because they have the numbers to push through their budget and legislative priorities, even when they are detrimental to law and order.

Mike France, the incumbent in the 42nd district, has the experience and knowledge of the budget, but cannot make significant changes as a minority party member. Lauren Gauthier, candidate in the 40th district, knows how difficult things can be for a young family and a small business, and she strongly advocates for the environment because of the shellfish business that employs her. Steve Weir, candidate for senator in the 19th District, is a small business owner and former law enforcement officer. These are people that we want to represent southeastern Connecticut in Hartford, reducing spending and taxes, protecting the environment, and preserving law and order. Vote for these candidates; let’s change the balance of power in Hartford.
