History's awful lesson about attacking democracy
It is interesting that PBS is running a series on the rise of the Nazis. Do not forget that Adolf Hitler was first elected to the German government and used the Reichstag fire (probably set by the Nazis) as an excuse to seize dictatorial power! Are unsubstantiated claims that the recent election was “stolen” sufficient reason to resist the smooth and orderly transfer of power in this country?
The very low acknowledgement of the recent election results by many Republicans both in an out of office is extremely troubling. One can be a good Republican without supporting the rants of a would-be tyrant!
America beware!

Finding a cooperative path to move forward
For those inclined to believe that the path of a patriot lies in support of the ignorant and petulant behavior displayed at our Capitol on the sixth of January, I remind you now that these actions have irrevocably harmed the fabric of our democracy and are an embarrassment to anyone who actually...
Senate censure, criminal trial would be better than impeachment
I have pondered the question of the possible Senate impeachment trial of Donald Trump. An argument could be made that Senate witnesses or victims from the Jan. 6 Capitol riot are now judge and jury. No witness or victim in our justice system can be a jury member or judge in a criminal case they...

So, we have seen what happens when people blindly follow an autocratic cult leader for four long years. It has been beyond tragic and our recovery will take some time. We ask ourselves why these followers did not question Trump’s behavior and continued to believe his lies and false...
