Now is the time to provide vaccine information

College students from all over the country returned home for Thanksgiving. Many students arrived from states where increasing surges of the coronavirus are causing increased positive cases and deaths. Although some students may have tested for the virus before leaving for home and the results were negative, these results may prove to be false negatives after three days. Parents should encourage their daughters and sons to be tested again.

There are many explanations why individuals will not take advantage of the coronavirus vaccine when it is available, including religious beliefs. However, there are many people who are fearful of vaccinations due to a lack of information. Others may believe they do not need to be vaccinated because of young age.

Now is the time for states to launch campaigns designed to provide residents with information regarding the forthcoming vaccine. Campaigns should strive to dispel fears regarding taking advantage of the vaccine and the benefits of doing so. There must be a strong emphasis on the dangers of young people, including college students, unknowingly passing on the virus to family members, friends, and others and the benefits of taking advantage of the coronavirus vaccine.
