Italian American disturbed that heritage attacked
I can't believe what is happening in this world. I am Italian, born Jean Impellitteri, and proud of it. My dad was proud of his background as was my uncle, who was mayor of New London.
Taking down the Columbus statue was unbelieveable. Now they want the holiday of Columbus, too. What next? Why doesn't New London just take history out of all its schools?
I am glad I don't have any children in school. I, myself, am glad I was born when I was, a time when we were told what to respect about our history.
Hats off to Councilor John Satti. I give him credit as he feels as I do. I had to write to The Day as I was never so disgusted.
