Unlike Trump and many GOP leaders, Obama has shown character

I write in response to Peter DiMaggio’s Letter to the Editor, “Bush had character that Obama lacks,” (Nov. 30).

George W. Bush did not have to deal with a Republican Party leadership and a lame-duck president openly trying to overthrow the verified presidential election with frivolous lawsuits and verbal attacks on our very Republic.

President Obama vowed to remain silent as long as assaults on our Constitution and its norms did not occur. Even so, President Obama's comments are tempered by comparison and are much needed as Democratic leaders are gently pushing back, while the majority of Republican leadership are kowtowing to an attempted coup of our government to reverse the verified presidential election.

Republicans are silent as the lame-duck, lame-brained president refuses to accept his loss. The Republican leadership is complicit in throwing filth on our Democratic Republic and some day that filth could strike a fatal blow.

President Obama has more character in his baby fingernail than the Republican leadership has in the entirety of their bodies. As for President George W. Bush, he congratulated President-elect Joe Biden.
