The coup failed. Who will be held responsible?

Our democracy was just assaulted by our president and his allies. It was surprising how few police were initially involved in this uprising when they were well forewarned. This was in stark contrast to the Freddie Grey protests in Baltimore in 2015, when our military in full gear showed up.

The protesters were right-wing militants dressed in Trump garb and egged on by the president. Yet, Fox News was calling for investigations of Antifa for this uprising.

I am wondering what charges will be rendered for this failed coup and what penalties will the elected officials who participated in this coup face. The persons who left water in the desert for migrants faced 20 years in prison. Also, I am very upset with my Catholic hierarchy who staunchly backed this immoral president.
