Nation of guns and death

More and endless shootings and death. Perhaps claims that the U.S.A. is the greatest country and of "American Exceptionalism" should cease until we do whatever is needed to stop the proliferation of guns and gun violence. Why is the right to have a gun valued more highly than the right not to be killed by one?
