Bordelon looks at issues with a clear eye

Please support our BEST Groton Town Councilor, Portia Bordelon, who won her amazing lone primary against a DTC “approved” (aka docile) slate of Democrats for Town Council, beating them all, and almost all in their own districts! The DTC did not recommend her because of her fiercely independent views, often opposed to town staff, and the courage to call out inefficiency, bad arguments, and even callous misinformation.

But hello?! Isn’t that what we WANT our elected representatives to do? Otherwise, why not let town staff run wild, as the planners, manager and attorney have been doing with the disastrous Mystic Oral School plan? Only Portia, with uncanny intuition and clear-eyed vision, was able to see through this boondoggle and save us from fiscal catastrophe.

So many of us residents and voters have grown to admire her intelligence, energy, and ability to connect with Groton citizens from all neighborhoods and ethnic origins. She champions issues benefiting all her constituents, many of whom have never had such a committed and compassionate voice to represent them. Republicans, use your two extra votes to cross over and vote for Portia!

I also urge support for Ian Thomas, who has been a superb RTM Representative, and is now running for school board.

    Genevieve Cerf
