    Support candidates who support sustainability

Groton Conservation Advocates, a non-profit organization committed to encouraging a clean, green, and sustainable Groton, is very pleased to endorse the following candidates for Groton Town Council in the upcoming election: Robert Boris, Aundré Bumgardner, Melinda Cassiere, Bruce Jones, Juan Melendez, and Scott Westervelt. Taking into account their answers to a questionnaire sent to all Republican and Democratic candidates, as well as their records, each of the above showed a strong commitment to addressing the impacts of climate change in Groton, working towards a more energy efficient future, promoting solar on Groton public buildings, protecting trees and open space, funding additional staff to enable better management and maintenance of the town’s green spaces, and supporting “reduce, reuse and recycle” efforts in Groton.

Addressing all these issues will make Groton a more attractive place to live and will attract new residents to our town. We commend these candidates for their vision in understanding that our quality of life here in Groton depends on a commitment to protecting and enhancing our environment.
