Heroes came to her rescue after accident
Two Fridays ago, we had a horrific rain and windstorm in Gales Ferry. My husband and I were clearing leaves from storm drains in front of our house when a tree cracked at its base and blew over onto me. This letter is to praise the very competent and caring volunteers of the Gales Ferry Fire Department as well as personnel from American Ambulance and Lawrence + Memorial Hospital. In less than five minutes after my husband called 911, Gales Ferry Fire Department and American Ambulance were at my house, providing me with urgently needed care, and off I went to the hospital. I will not go into all of the gory details of my injuries, but Gales Ferry Fire Department, American Ambulance and the hospital staff were amazing. The emergency room staff, the staff on 4.2 at the hospital, the nursing staff at all levels of training, the physical therapists, the occupational therapists, the folks who cleaned my room every day, everyone, were amazing! I spent four days in the hospital, and I am finally home and beginning the healing process. I just want everyone to know that all of these heroes are just that, heroes!
