Please vote against Waterford-Eversource deal
I urge Waterford Voters to vote NO on May 31 in the special referendum. I am voting NO to our town government signing a 15-year deal with Eversource to provide gas as the sole fuel source, regardless of price, to two town buildings. My reason for voting against is because there is no current nor long range plan for decreasing fossil fuel use in our town.
Locked into 15 years without the ability to take advantage of possible wind or solar power use seems incredibly short sighted when there is rapid progress toward making renewable energy sources available.
We need local studies done to determine the most climate conscious and effective action to take now and to prepare for the future — studies that align with neighboring towns and with the state plans to reduce the use of fossil fuels. Vote NO.
