Politics and money aren't more important that my memories

I grew up in Montville — Oakdale Heights to be exact. One of my very first memories is going with my father to Montville High School on a Friday night to see a football game when the town had installed temporary lights. It was 1970 and my father took me to every game that year when they went undefeated. I loved that team, what I really loved was the team colors and being the Montville Indians. I loved sports; I played in all the local youth leagues. I wore many different uniforms: Montville Fire Company in little league, Beit Brothers in Babe Ruth. I could not wait to get to the high school and play on a team named the Indians. I was never more proud and could not wait to show my dad my freshman football helmet with that Indian Head decal and my orange and black jersey and the first time I got to put orange laces in my cleats. I can still hear the cheers from the games. Now that is all gone. I still have my letterman's jacket with Montville Indians on the back, but sadly it means nothing to me now. Unfortunately, politics and money are more important than tradition and loyalty.
