    Religious freedom is not immoral

Cal Thomas wrote that a lack of morals in America was causing “The decline of a nation.” There are certainly issues that contribute to make life more difficult than in the past: a concentration of wealth in the hands of a few forcing families to have one or both parents working two or more jobs to make ends meet at the expense of family time, bullying of children abetted by adults calling their biologic differences immoral. Even suggesting a belief in God should overrule our law-based constitutional society.

Mr. Thomas calls out several things as immoral. LGBTQ people are mentioned prominently. This gives license to bullying and discrimination.

This country allows people to freely worship or not as they see fit. Mr. Thomas feels that it is immoral to not believe in his version of God and that people’s lower nature will prevail without that belief. For 246 years, USA has been ruled by principles written into our Constitution that allowed fair treatment to all by its citizens and government, without religious laws placed on people.

Mr. Thomas also has a problem with Harry and Meghan. Not too long ago was interracial marriage illegal. Should this racist policy be restored in the name of his morality?
