President should be elected by popular vote

Donald Trump and his supporters say that the 2020 Presidential election was stolen from him because he only lost by 7,052,780 votes!

Of course, the problem is that the popular vote does not currently define how presidents are elected. Rather, the current system was designed in the late 17th century to work in a world with communications and travel restrictions that have long since been overcome.

The current system is dependent on a system of electors equal to each state’s number of congressmen plus the number of senators. And although the number of congressmen is roughly based on each state’s population, the number of senators for each state is two!

Having two senators for each state was instituted so that the larger states would not be able to dominate the smaller states legislatively. The current presidential election system is slow, cumbersome, and sometimes has electors who do not vote for one of the candidates on the ballot!

But the President is meant to serve all the people equally!

The logical way of implementing this is to use the popular vote totals, with the candidate who gathers the most votes becoming president.

To accomplish this, we will need a Constitutional amendment.
