Residents should be welcome in city hall
Topic: A Fortified City Hall
Points For Consideration
• City Hall: “The Heart of the City”: Community access permitted at all times
• Required statement of purpose sends the message: “Government not open.”
• “Hallowed Hall or Masked Mausoleum”
• “The righteous are as bold as a lion but the wicked flee when no one is chasing them.”
• City employees’ bewilderment at entry restrictions even for them.
• Visitors given third-degree when desiring entrance into the historic, (1856) city hall building.
• Having obtained entrance and approaching a closed door, I was met with a look from an employee like a deer in the headlights; stunned and speechless. The reception was along the lines of, “how did you get in here and what do you want?” Rather than good morning, how may I help you? This occurred twice with the same employee!
• Not a welcoming atmosphere, but one of intrusion
• Is this a place of public service or solitary confinement?
• Even most STATE CAPITOLS are not that inaccessible
• Why is it in lockdown? And who is pulling the strings?
• #askingforafriend!
