National security should be taken more seriously

Having spent six years in the United States Navy and 38 years at Electric Boat, working exclusively with classified information, including, as a qualified classifier, I find it incomprehensible that the senior leaders of our country have no concept or training in the managing and safeguarding of classified material. The current and former president cannot or do not grasp how to properly treat classified material as a junior seaman or new engineer is trained to do. Is it ignorance, arrogance, or hubris?

And what of the other members of the governing bodies of the United States?

Do any of them realize the importance of safeguarding classified information from our enemies?

I am seriously concerned for the continued democracy of the United States if our leaders continue to have such a cavalier attitude in regard to our national security.
