Two Groton candidates advocate for young residents

I'm happy to endorse two Groton candidates, Portia Bordelon for re-election to the Town Council, and Ian Thomas for the Board of Education.

I first met them at an RTM meeting they attended to support our successful effort to restore a cut the council made to the educational budget. Then, first Portia and later Ian joined the RTM where they persistently advocated for our youngest residents. Unlike the U.S. House of Representative and the legislature in Hartford, representation on the RTM is apportioned by registered voters not population. Thus young people and other non-voting residents are underrepresented, making their vocal support more important.
