A vote for Republicans is a vote against democracy
As we enter 2024, it's important to remember what the stakes are for American democracy. On Jan. 6, 2021, Donald Trump tried to overthrow the government because he lost the 2020 election. He has made it very clear that if he were to become president, he would establish a dictatorship, imprison his political rivals and that he does not care about letting any part of our constitution stop him from doing what he wants. Few in the Republican Party have had the integrity to stand for the democratic principles of our nation, and I am not aware of a single elected member of the Connecticut Republican Party who has done so. Instead, they obfuscate, try to murky the waters, and pretend that both sides are the issue. If a Trump presidency meant throwing every elected Democrat into jail, Connecticut Republicans would either celebrate it or at best stand to the side and let it happen. They have had the opportunity to reclaim their party and do what's right for our nation, but they aren't interested. So as we enter 2024, remember that a vote for Republicans is a vote against democracy.
