Recognize anti-Semitic speech
Americans should be aware that Trump and Vance are using anti-Semitic tactics to create hate. In the early 20th century, anti-Semitics claimed that Jews were conspiring to take over control of the world and this plan was contained in a document called the “Protocols of the Elders of Zion.” Another tactic was referred to as the “blood libel” — the claim that Jews used the blood of Christian children in their rituals and food preparation. These were, of course, all lies, fabrications to support hatreds.
Today, similar tactics are being used by Trump and Vance to defame immigrants, particularly Haitians in Ohio. They refer to a conspiracy to take away “American jobs” and to the immigrants eating dogs and cats. Trump and Vance know these are lies, but have chosen to use this page out of the anti-Semitic playbook. Recognize this for what it is — hate speech. We should be as intolerant of these anti-ethnic, racist slurs as we are of anti-Semitic speech.
