Americans, we need to wake up
Our country is under attack, not from foreign enemies or immigrants, who have recently sought refuge here just like our ancestors did. We are under attack from a more devious threat: repeated lies and fabricated stories from Republican party members that threaten the very existence of our democratic republic and constitution. If repeated often enough, these slowly become “truths” for those listening. We must recognize them for what they are: deliberate misrepresentations created to inflame mistrust in our government and the electoral process created in our constitution.
George Washington wrote about his concerns over the factions that were developing in the last years of his Presidency. His fear was that these factions would only support the interests of the elite people involved in them — at the detriment of our government and country. We have been fortunate that President Washington’s fears have never been fully realized — until today.
The Republican Party, under its current leadership, has lost any form of respect for our Constitution and the principles of Democracy that we have followed for the last 250 years. Their leadership and most of their followers are looking to recreate our government promoting only the interests and benefits that support their elite class of wealthy citizens. The plans described in the proposed “Project 2025” call for an authoritarian type of government, literally destroying any vestiges of a free democratic society.
We must not let this happen. We need to wake up now to save our constitution and our country.
Please vote Harris/Walz in order to preserve the government that will benefit all citizens and not just the chosen few.
