Speed limit signs ignored on Waterford-East Lyme corridor
I have written about this before, quite recently in fact, and it seems as though nothing has been done to rectify a very dangerous and life-threatening situation. I thought that perhaps our law enforcement agencies could provide some answers as to how they intend to resolve this. The speed limit signs that are seen along the Waterford-East Lyme corridor are being ignored. In this area of merging highways, the speed limit heading south has been reduced from 55 mph to 50 mph. Now due to the major highway construction, new signs have been erected warning drivers to be cautious. One of the new signs says simply, “4 miles in 4 min.” Oh, wait a minute. Isn’t that 60 mph? Now that’s the one NOT being ignored, and as a matter of fact, it has become the norm.
Something doesn’t make sense as I see patrol cars, both state and local, parked along the highway occasionally with little or no impact on the traffic. An awful lot of money is being spent on signs and law enforcement, while both are being ignored with the apparent blessing of law enforcement.
