Where has Thanksgiving gone?
Thanksgiving is the time to give thanks, to the Lord above. Maybe you were cured of cancer, or a loved one was, or of some other unwanted disease? Even though the economy has been tough, you're doing all right. Maybe you became first-time parents, grandparents or great-grandparents? Your children and adult children tolerate you, as do your friends. Your health could be better, but you'll take what you can get.
So many days in your life to be grateful for and you probably took them for granted. Not the vets who are homeless, who defended this country and now have nowhere to go; or parents of addicts who have lost a child; or people who are facing so many mountains to climb, they give up; and not the children who are abused, hungry and cold. Why am I writing this letter? It's not even Dec. 1, we have not celebrated our Thanksgiving and people have Christmas lights and decorations in their yard. Could we just celebrate one of the most important holidays, Thanksgiving? Christmas can wait.
