    Norwich police announce parking, traffic restrictions for Sunday St. Patrick's Day Parade

    Norwich — Norwich police will enact several temporary downtown parking and traffic restrictions Sunday for the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade and street festival, which will begin at 1 p.m.

    The parade route will be closed to traffic at 11 a.m. The parade will begin on Main Street near Railroad Avenue, enter Franklin Square, continue on Franklin Street, turning left onto Willow Street, right onto Chestnut, continue straight onto Broadway and turn left onto Main Street to end at Railroad Avenue.

    At 10 a.m., Main Street will be closed between North Main and Franklin streets for parade setup.

    No parking will be allowed on both sides of the entire length of Main Street, both sides of Franklin Street from Main to Willow streets, both sides of Chestnut Street from Willow Street to Broadway, and both sides of Broadway from Union Square to Main Street.

    The Market Street parking garage and the City Hall parking deck will be accessible prior to and during the parade. Motorists are encouraged to use these facilities.
