Nine stunning models graced the red carpet at Langley’s Restaurant at Great Neck Country Club in Waterford earlier this month to benefit Child and Family Agency of Southeastern Connecticut, a local nonprofit.

“The idea of giving back to help others is fashionable,” said organizer and event planner Gay Clarkson.

A spring fashion show highlighted casual and formal attire in the latest styles for the coming seasons.

For the third year, Macy’s Crystal Mall provided the lovely ensembles that donned the fit and fashionable live mannequins.

Floral tops, beaded jackets, and red sequin sheaths were paired with black skirts and gowns.

Eye apparel, provided by Sunglasses Hut at Macy’s topped off their looks with a sparkling finish.

Tina Breen, a sales associate at Macy’s, said she wanted the models to feel comfortable in what they were wearing.

“The fashions picked them.” she explained.

Child and Family Agency began in 1809 when a dozen women wanted to make a difference in the lives of children in our area. The agency, like its mission, has grown, and last year an estimated 18,000 children and families were served by over 650 volunteers and a staff of approximately 190.

Programs deal with children’s mental health, children’s physical health, the prevention of child

abuse, the treatment of family violence, teen pregnancy child care, and parent education.

“The funding is critical as we look to plug the holes due to unreliable funding from government and other traditional sources,” said the agency’s CEO Rick Cakert.
