Heritage Park plans treasure hunt for Connecticut Trails Day

The Thames River Heritage Park will host a self-guided treasure hunt-style educational hike in recognition of Connecticut Trails Day on June 2.

Participants will hike to the sites linked by water taxi that make up the Heritage Park — New London's Fort Trumbull State Park and Waterfront Park and Fort Griswold State Park in Groton.

They will follow a series of clues related to the Thames River's history and ecology and solve a puzzle that will lead them to a treasure box. The Heritage Park will offer free rides on the water taxi connecting the three sites between 10 a.m. and noon on the day of the hike.

Heritage Park staff organized the treasure hunt with Connecticut Sea Grant to celebrate Connecticut Trails Day, an annual statewide event sponsored by the Connecticut Forest & Park Association. For more information or to register, visit bit.ly/trhp-quest.
