Supporters of Groton charter revision to hold info session Wednesday

Groton — Groton's Right to Vote, the group supporting proposed revisions to the town charter, is holding an information session Wednesday.

The session will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Groton Public Library. Space is limited, so the group requests that attendees RSVP by emailing grtv2018@gmail.com. Sessions are also scheduled for Oct. 23 and 30.

Charter revisions, which are on the ballot on Nov. 6, include allowing for an annual budget referendum, eliminating the Representative Town Meeting, instituting a seven-person Board of Finance, and extending town council terms from two years to four.

Both proponents and opponents of the charter revisions have signs up around town, and the revision opponents are active on the Vote No – Charter Revisions public Facebook group.

Comment threads are monitored for 48 hours after publication and then closed.
