New London — The driver of a motorcycle was taken to the hospital Monday afternoon following an accident that left him lying on the sidewalk next to his motorcycle on Howard Street near the entrance to the Shaws Cove Office Complex, the fire department said.

The New London Fire and Police departments responded to the accident that was called in around 1:22 p.m., according to the report from the fire department.

"New London Firefighters quickly treated the driver for injuries he received from the accident," the report said.

The unidentified motorcyclist was taken by New London Fire Department ambulance to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital.

The driver of a second vehicle involved in the crash was uninjured, according to the report.
