Police: Norwich man intentionally crashed into ex-girlfriend's car

New London — Police have charged a Norwich man with intentionally crashing into a car driven by his ex-girlfriend on the evening of April 28.

Police said Juan B. Martinez, 38, of 248 Franklin St., Apt. 1, Norwich, drove his Nissan Altima head-on into the victim's Kia Sportage near 157 Crystal Ave. after following her car for an unspecified period of time.

Upon arrival, police said they found the two cars 150 yards apart. The ex-girlfriend and her boyfriend, who sustained minor injuries, were inside the Sportage. Police said Martinez ran from the scene.

The two victims declined medical treatment.

Police charged Martinez on a warrant with criminal attempt to commit second-degree assault, first-degree reckless endangerment, reckless driving and evading responsibility.

Court records show Martinez is free on a $50,000 bond and next due in New London Superior Court on June 26. He has no prior criminal convictions.
