Ledyard — Portions of Route 117 and Colonel Ledyard Highway will be temporarily closed Sunday for the annual Memorial Day Parade, which starts at Ledyard Center School and ends at Ledyard High School.

Route 117 from the elementary school to Bill Library will close at 1 p.m. for about 20 minutes. Colonel Ledyard Highway from the library to the high school will be closed from about 1 to 2 p.m. as the parade finishes.

Drivers and area residents are asked to seek alternate routes during the closure and exercise caution before and after the parade, as participants and spectators will be walking along the roads to their assigned spots and back to their vehicles. Members of the police department will be on scene managing traffic patterns.
