Escorted by the Thames Towboat Co. tug John P. Wronowski and patrol boats from the Navy Coastal and Riverine Squadron 8, the U.S. Navy Los Angeles-class attack submarine USS Providence (SSN 719) passes in the Thames River between New London and Groton en route Friday, May 31, 2019, to the U.S. Naval Submarine Base in Groton.
The Providence, commissioned in July 1985, was the first Los Angeles-class submarine to be equipped with the Tomahawk cruise missile vertical launch system.
