State Sen. Cathy Osten calls for Transportation Committee hearing on port authority shakeups

Hartford — State Sen. Cathy Osten, D-Sprague, on Thursday urged Transportation Committee leaders to hold an informational hearing on how the Connecticut Port Authority will weather recent leadership upheaval and move forward with major projects.

With a final agreement on a $93 million public-private investment into State Pier not yet signed amid authority shakeups, including Executive Director Evan Matthews being placed on leave and the resignation of Board of Directors Chairwoman Bonnie Reemsnyder, Osten says a hearing will provide lawmakers a chance to review how the project and others will move forward.

The Day reported this week that the authority paid Reemsnyder's daughter $3,000 for six photos on display at the quasi-public agency's Old Saybrook offices. Gov. Ned Lamont then called for her resignation.
