    Ledyard committees finalize November endorsements

    Ledyard — Ahead of the town clerk filing deadline Wednesday, the Republican and Democratic town committees have finalized their endorsements for mayor, Town Council and the Board of Education.

    The Republican Town Committee has endorsed incumbent mayor Fred Allyn III as well as current Town Councilors Linda Davis, who currently is serving as chair, Kevin Dombrowski, Andra Ingalls, Tom Malone and John Marshall. Steve Eichelberg, who previously served on the council before he stepped down last August to serve in the National Guard, also was nominated to the council.

    The RTC also nominated current school board members Mike Brawner, chairman Anthony Favry and Bob Guerra. New endorsements for the board include Steve Munger, Robert Russak and Crystal Snyder.

    The Democratic Town Committee endorsed incumbent Town Councilors Mary McGrattan, Bill Saums and Tony Sabilia, as well as newcomers Hilary Evans, Liz Schewebel and Alex Rode. For the Board of Education, the DTC has endorsed current members Stephanie Calhoun, Kate DiPalma-Herb and Janis Vajdos, as well as new nominees Joanne Kelley and Naomi Rodriguez.

    The committee did not make an endorsement for mayor.

    Municipal elections will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 5. District 1 voters now will vote at Gallup Hill School, following the closure of Ledyard Center School. Voters in Districts 2 and 3 will continue to vote at Juliet Long School.
