Make a Difference: Care and Share

WHO: Anne and her teen daughter, Taylor.

AGENCY: Care & Share of East Lyme, helping residents of East Lyme and Salem since 1989.

THEIR SITUATION: Taylor is fighting a rare genetic disorder, PVNH, a brain malformation that causes frequent seizures, learning and physical challenges, joint hypermobility, weakened lungs and agoraphobia. She is almost entirely homebound, except for medical appointments, and Anne cares for her around-the-clock. As a single mom, Anne does her best on a very tight fixed income. She says Taylor faces her challenges with courage, enjoying Broadway music, drawing and painting.

WHAT TO GIVE: Target gift card for clothes, art supplies — erasers, gel pens, heavy paper drawing pads, small canvasses — knee socks, fuzzy socks, weighted blanket, oil change gift card, HEPA air purifier for Taylor’s room, dual wire headphones.

TO DONATE: Gift cards and checks may be sent to Care & Share of East Lyme, attn: Gayle Booth, P.O. Box 114, East Lyme, CT 06333. Make checks out to Care & Share, with Make A Difference in the memo. Gifts may be dropped off at the Care & Share Food Pantry, 12 Roxbury Road, Niantic. Call (860) 739-8502 for hours.
