Make a Difference: OIC of New London County

    WHO: Shaunna

AGENCY: OIC of New London County Inc.

HER SITUATION: Shaunna was in an abusive relationship for 10 years. She finally left when he physically abused her again. Discouraged, hurt, scared and hopeless, she came to Connecticut to start a new life. She knew she needed a job, but she didn't have any employability skills. Soon after arriving, she came to OIC and was able to earn a Certified Nursing Assistant certificate. She got a CNA position in a nursing home and is getting her life back on track. She attributes her success to OIC and the encouragement she received.

WHAT TO GIVE: In order to continue to "help people help themselves," we are graciously requesting contributions and donations to support the OIC of New London trainees to receive vocational training, education and job placement assistance at no cost to them. The cost to train an individual is $2,900, which covers all learning materials, uniforms and certified testing/exams.

TO DONATE: Monetary donations can be made payable to OIC of New London County Inc. with "Supporting An OIC Trainee" in the memo. For more information, please feel free to contact President/CEO Nekeisha Grant at (860) 447-1731, ext. 313, or ngrant@oicnlc.org. OIC is located at 106 Truman St., New London, CT 06320.
