    Presentation on the Blue Heritage Trail to be held Feb. 2 in Groton

    Groton -- A team from the University of Connecticut's Avery Point Campus will give a talk about the development of the Blue Heritage Trail and proposed "gateway" sites at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 2.

    The free presentation, sponsored by the Groton Bank Historical Association, will be held at the Groton Congregational Church, 162 Monument St.

    "The Blue Heritage Trail project, supported by the U.S. Department of the Interior's National Park Service, the University of Connecticut and the Connecticut Sea Grant, aims to raise public awareness of the history, role and importance of our local marine environment, maritime economy and culture," according to a news release. "It is comprised of walking, car and boat tours, augmented by physical signage and virtual content."

    Nat Trumbull, associate professor of geography; Syma Ebbin, associate professor specializing in fisheries and environmental science, and research coordinator for the Connecticut Sea Grant; and Colleen Franks, a research specialist in the Geography Department, will speak.
