    Last chance for golfers

Golf players gather on the green at Great Neck Country Club in Waterford on Sunday. For most golf courses across the region Sunday was their last day in business for a while as Gov. Ned Lamont's executive order directed all nonessential businesses and not-for-profit entities in the state to prohibit all in-person functions if they are able to, effective 8 p.m. Monday. "We're still waiting on the exact rules, but today is kind of a last day," said Kevin Shea, golf pro at the course. He said the green seemed more popular than normal for an early spring day with temperatures in the low 40s. "I think people are really trying to get outside right now," Shea said. The club opened for weekends only earlier this month. (Sarah Gordon/The Day)
